Even your period can be sustainable
And you’ll love the great value of our menstrual cups
It’s probably a fair bet that most people who menstruate would rather not. True, it’s natural and healthy, and nothing to be ashamed of. Also true, for some people it is not an easy time of the month for so many and varied reasons.
Whatever the case for you, silicone menstrual cups may well help take some of the pressure off each month.
EcoWild menstrual cups come in a storage pouch, and are reusable month, after month, after month. Safe to leave in at night, and a great way to monitor your flow, and to get to understand your period better. Some women even suggest that their periods are less crampy and uncomfortable when they use a cup.
We stock two sizes – small and large. So, which one should you choose?
- Pick the large cup if:
- over the age of 30;
- had a vaginal birth or c-section
- Pick the small cup if:
- under the age of 30;
- have had a c-section
If you’ve got super strong pelvic muscles, whether you’ve given birth vaginally or by c-section, a smaller cup may be better for you. Likewise if you’re quite young, still a virgin, or have a short vaginal canal, you may want to consider using the smaller cup.
Some people experience quite heavy periods, regardless of age or whether they have given birth. It might be worth considering a large cup in this instance. Small cups still hold a substantial amount, but for peace of mind a large cup could be the go.
Whichever size is right for you, something to remember is – cups take a bit of getting used to! We recommend taking a month or two, to get used to inserting your cup, and also getting used to how it feels. Inserted properly, you should be barely aware that it is there.
Cups are safer than tampons, and your likelihood of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) are rare, however make sure you empty and clean your cup at least every 12 hours. Boil your cup in between periods for 20 minutes to make sure it is nice and clean. You can soak your cup in a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to help remove discolouration to the surface of the cup. Soak for an hour.
Your cup will give you years of period protection. Less waste, less hassle, and only one product for you to keep at hand.
If your period is a mystery to you (and trust us, you’re not alone), then we recommend the Clue Period and Ovulation tracking app. Track your period, notice trends, predict your period, get control of how you feel. Whilst we make every effort to ensure that your products arrive safely and damage free, so that you can begin enjoying them straight away, please be aware that we use ‘ugly’ packaging. It may not look so great, but we’re keen to ship items as sustainably as possible, with the least possible new packaging. Small changes made often by many, make the biggest of differences!
